In this trip we will enjoy part of the route of Discovery Channel-Eco Challenge , Dic` 99 The interesting thing about this trip is will hike across glaciers with ropes on one of the highest mountains in the Northern Patagonian Andes, Mt. Tronador, starting from its south face getting to the northern glaciers of the mountain, visiting a typical mountain hut, then we will descend and hike into a very dense jungle arriving to the Frias Lake, with glacial sediments. From there we´ll cross the lake getting to Pto Blest where another boat will wait for us to travel on one of the big branches of the Nahuel Huapi lake, arriving finally to PTO Pañuelo harbor which is just 25 km from Bariloche´s downtown

Day 1: We will pick you up at the airport in Bariloche, then we drive from Bariloche to Pampa Linda (80 km) where we will spend the night in the Hosteria at the foot of Mt Tronador. Getting ready for the adventure.
Day 2: This day we will have 4/ 5 hs horseback riding. The horses are going to leave us in Mallin Chileno near the frontier with Chile, then the ascent to ref. Tronador (Viejo´s hut) is going to take another 3 hs. We will enjoy the South Face of Mte Tronador (3554mts) with their impressive glaciers and the Chilean Mountains. We cross the border to Chile (Important: Bring your passport !!!)
The Ref. Tronador, almost in glacier terrain. This day we will use the installations of the hut or even sleep in our Marmot tents. We will arrive around the 2000mts, where starts the glacier terrain. .
Day 3: After breakfast, we will wear all the glaciar gear (crampons, harness, rope). We cross the Manso Glacier, enjoying the view of Pico Internacional and Pico Argentino, of Mte. Tronador (3354m) Is a very easy trek across glacier terrain. Very beautiful and enjoyable trek!. You will enjoy craverses, seracs and a nice overview of the area. After 4 hs approx. we will arrive to Otto Meiling, Mountain Lodge where we will enjoy the typical Patagonian meals in the heights of the mountains..
Day 4: This day we will go across the Alerce Glacier to Paso de las Nubes (1700mts), heading Northeast, where we will see the Frias Valley and its glacier with the same name. All this glaciers belongs to Mte Tronador (Manso, Alerce and Frias). This day we will finish the glacier terrain and we will arrive to the beginning of Frias River. We will put up our tents at the base of Mte Tronador where we are going to spend the night at 1000 mts. Into a very deep forest. This area is called Selva Valdiviana, because is a leafy zone.
Day 5: This will be a short trek day, hiking through the Frias Valley until the river finish into the lake with the same name. This aerea looks like walking through a "jungle", the vegetation is very leafy and looks like a pseudo tropical aerea. The Frias River looks dirty, this dirt come from the sediments that the glacier produces when is moving forward. This kind of water is called glacier milk. Finallly the lake have an impressive turquoise color. Boat cruising of Lago Frias, bus (3km) to Pto Blest and ferry cruise from Pto Blest to Pto Pañuelo, across the Nahuel Huapi Lake, finishing right in front of Llao- Llao Hotel
