Started the Northwest Mountain School in 1994 after returning from an expedition to the North Ridge of Mt. Everest in Tibet. He uses his experience from the largest and most glaciated mountains in the world to select staff and trips that are appropriate for younger climbers. He now serves as the director of the Northwest Mountain School's summer programs.
