Mount Wilson
At a height of 4343 meters (14250 feet), Mount Wilson is the highest mountain in the San Miguel Mountains as well as in Dolores County.
It offers a challenging climb with different routes and approaches. A 4th class climbing is needed in order to reach the summit of Mount Wilson. But you will find that it is worth the effort. The views on the summits are truly breathtaking.
Mount Wilson was named after A. D. Wilson, one of the first climbers in 1874. This mountain belongs to the group of peaks in the San Miguel Range of San Juan National Forest. The other mountains are EL Diente and Wilson Peak.
Best Time to Climb
In general, summer and fall seasons offer good climbing conditions.
Colorado mountains are known for their local storms in the afternoons so start climbing early.
