Mount Harvard
With a height of 4395 meters, Mount Harvard is considered as the third highest mountain in Colorado. A 2.2 mile long, sharp ridge connects Mount Harvard to Mount Columbia. That is why people can climb both mountains together.
Mount Harvard was first climbed in 1869 by W.M. Davis and S. Sharpless. It is situated 11 miles northwest of Buena Vista, the closest city and it is usually the starting point in to go to Mount Harvard.
Mount Harvard was named as such when Harvard University sponsored a surveying expedition on the mountain led by Josiah Whitney, University professor in Geology.
