Thunderbolt Peak
Thunderbolt Peak offers a great challenge to climbers. With a height of 4268 meters, it is steep rock peak and its summit is a difficult climb no matter what side you take. It is the northernmost California Fourteener which is located at the Palisade Crest, northwest of North Palisade.
The views are breathtaking at the summit. You can see the expanse of Mount Winchell, Mount Sill, North Palisade, and Kings Canyon.
It was first climbed by a group which is composed of Bestor Robinson, Lewis F. Clark, Glen Dawson, Francis Farquhar, Robert L. M. Underhill, Norman Clyde, and Jules Eichorn.

From Bishop, go to South Lake. Hike over Bishop Pass and to Dusy Basin (cross country). Cross Thunderbolt Pass in the Palisade Basin.
Northeast facing Routes:
