Split Mountain
Split Mountain is situated at the Sierra Crest. At 4285 meters, one feature of Split Mountain that makes it different from other California Fourteeners is its form - a notch separates its two summits. It was first climbed in 1887.
How to Get There
A 4WD with high ground clearance is a requirement in order to reach the trailhead. Expect a not-so-good ride, as the 13-mile road is in poor condition.
Best Time to Climb
June until October is the climbing season in Split Mountain.
