Mount Russell
At a height of 4294 meters, Mount Russell provides challenging routes and excellent rock climbing sites for enthusiasts. It was first climbed by Norman Clyde in 1926.
Though beautiful by itself, a big part of the reason of Mount Russell's popularity is Mount Whitney, its neighbor and also the highest mountain in the continental United States. Mount Russell is situated north of Mount Whitney.
The west face of Mount Russell features a sheer 800ft. wall, while the other sides of the mountain has a variety of routes as well as mass of buttresses.
The nearest major airports are in Reno, Nevada and Los Angeles, California.
