Mount Foraker
Mount Foraker or Sultana is the second highest peak of the Alaska Range, and the sixth highest in North America. It is located fifteen miles southwest of Mount McKinley, North America's highest peak.
The mountain was named after Joseph Foraker, U.S. Senator from Ohio in 1899. It was first climbed on August 1934 by Charles S. Houston, Dr. T. Graham Brown, and Chychele Waterston via the Northwest Ridge.
Best time to Climb is mid-May through mid-July. All climbers attempting Mt. Foraker must register with Denali National Park and Preserve, and pay a special use fee of $200 per climber plus park entrance fee. A 60-day preregistration period is required to climb Mount Foraker. The expedition must submit a registration form to the Talkeetna Ranger Station 60 days prior to the climb date.
