Bugaboo Alpine Adventures
My name is Larry Dolecki and I am the principle provider of mountain guiding services through Bugaboo Alpine Adventures. I offer guided mountaineering, rock climbing, ice climbing and ski touring trips.
I have been climbing since 1983 and guiding professionally since 1994. I am a fully certified mountain guide and member of the International Federation of Mountain Guides Association (IFMGA / UIAGM). This is the only internationally recognized guiding association and allows me to work anywhere in the world.
I base myself in Revelstoke, British Columbia, the heart of some of the best skiing in the world. My love of climbing has taken me to far corners of the world, mountaineering in New Zealand, skiing in the Himalayas or classic peaks of the Alps such as the Matterhorn, Eiger or Mount Blanc.
My personal climbing experience includes big walls in Yosemite and new routes in Peru. I have done expedition style climbs on Mount McKinley, Mount Logan and the Himalayas. In addition to climbing many of the test pieces of the Canadian Rockies, such as the North Face of Mount Temple, I have also guided most of the moderate classics. Some of my favourites include Mt Robson, Mt Louis, Mt Sir Donald and Bugaboo Spire.
While I am still interested in pushing my limits personally, I find great pleasure in showing people what they are capable of and guiding the way. Safety is my primary concern and my broad base of personal experience allows me to safely take people places they wouldn't have dreamed possible.
Whether it is deep powder skiing in the Selkirk trees or spring ski mountaineering on the high glaciers, skiing is one of my favourite ways to move through the mountains. Ski adventures have taken me touring in New Zealand, heliskiing in the Himalayas and ski mountaineering in the Alps. Although I have travelled to many mountain ranges to ski, I find the best powder turns in my own backyard in British Columbia. Remote backcountry huts such as Icefall Lodge offer comfortable accomodation, in a remote wilderness setting surrounded by awesome skiing. It is the perfect place to enjoy a ski holiday with friends.
My first ski trip to the Alps was in 1989, when I spent the winter in Chamonix. I have returned most springs since then to guide such ski traverses as the Haute Route, Ortler and the Berner Oberland. Rich history, good food and an extensive network of huts offer memorable ski traverses. Let me guide you on the mountain adventure you have always dreamed of.

Mountaineering in the granite spires of the Bugaboo Range. This trip lasts five days and is based at the Kain hut. Objectives include Bugaboo Spire, Snowpatch Spire, Pigeon Spire, and the Cresent Towers. These are high alpine peaks that typically invovle a glacier approach and offer high quality climbing on clean granite. Difficulties range from easy snow peaks to 5.10 multipitch climbing. These trip can be customised to meet your climbing abilities. If you have no previous climbing experience we can start with the basics such as belaying and movement skills and attempt peaks that are within your abilities. For the more experienced climber, we can do classics such as Bugaboo Spire North East Ridge (5.7, 10 pitches), or the Becky Chouinard Route on Howser Spire (5.10, 20 pitches).
