International Trekking and Climbing Festival

The International Trekking and Climbing Festival will be held in Nepal on November 20-28. The aim of this event is to explore climbing possibilities in the Khumbu and take part in the Khumbu festival. Climbing in the shadow of Mt Everest will be a unique opportunity in the heart of the Sagermatha National Park, a UNESCO world heritage site. Participants will have the chance to present climbing from their own country and to have discussions each evening on an important climbing or mountaineering topics.
These events are a great opportunity to meet a varied group of young climbers from home and abroad, make new friends, as well as exchange climbing techniques.
During the event knowledge will be shared (demonstrations, lectures and experience) of climbing and mountaineering, ecological issues in Asia, high altitude medicine and living with mountain communities.
The festival is for young climbers over 16 years old and trainers welcomed by Khumjung Youth Club and endorsed by Nepal Mountaineering Association. Under 18s will need to be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
Participants will have the chance to present climbing from their own country and discuss important climbing or mountaineering topics. There is a maximum of 2 participants per country. Minimum lead climbing level is F5. Every participant will be partnered up with a Nepali climber to have a more intimate glimpse into the life of the Nepali climber.
