Trek to Kilimanjaro: The Roof of Africa

Africa is a continent of contrasts, and nowhere more beautifully illustrates this than Tanzania, where the snow-capped peak of Kilimanjaro rises majestically above the shimmering heat of the savannah. At 5,895 metres (19,340 feet) Kilimanjaro is not only Africa's highest peak it is also the highest freestanding mountain in the world. Climb Kili 4 Kids has set an opportunity to climb to the summit of the 'Roof of Africa', and take part in a once-in-a-lifetime experience from the 31st of July to the 14th of August.
This will not just be a standard charity trek; In addition to climbing Kilimanjaro participants will also be given the opportunity to spend time at Childreach International projects in the India with some of the children that their sponsorship money will benefit.
Furthermore, there will also be the option for participants to extend their stay in Tanzania. From the white sands of Zanzibar Island to arguably some of the best safari parks in the world, there is plenty to keep participants occupied.
Itinerary is as follows:
Day 1 – Assembling of Challengers in New Delhi; Welcome & Pre-departure briefing & Flag off Volunteering at Childreach International India Projects.
Day2 - Depart New Delhi, Indira Gandhi International Airport
Day 3- Arrive in Nairobi, cross the border into Tanzania and drive to the foot of Kilimanjaro./Or Arrive in Dar es Salamand drive to the foot of Kilimanjaro
Day 4- Enter Kilimanjaro National Park and trek to the Machame Campsite to witness incredible views of Kibo Pea and the evening is spend tents, candlelit dinner and forest sounds.
Day 5 - Steep trekking on Machame ridge onwards to the Shira Plateau and onwards towards Shira Hut. ( 3840) Here view the breathtaking vistas of Kibo Peak, Mt Meru and Maassai Highland from your tents and capture the beauty as you acclimatize.
Day 6- Navigate past the Lava Tower (4400m) and onwards to camp in the Barranco Valley having the most spectacular views of Mount Kibo.
Day 7- Continue trekking upwards through the ridges and karanga valley gaining 700ft more and to the summit camp at Barafu(4600m)
Day 8- An early morning bliss as you reach the summit for sunrise ( 5.30 am) at Stella Point. Capture the moment for a lifetime and start a slow descent down to Mweka Camp.
Day 9- Exit the Kilimanjaro National Park for a well earned shower and rest. Celebrate grandly your summiting victory as you receive the Uhuru Peak Certificates.
Day10- Free day to reclaim, relax and shop. Preparations for the Safari adventure.
Day 11 – Hop on your land crusiers and jeeps and zoom towards the Great Rift Valley and Lake Manyara National Park. Celebrate the beauty and adventure in a Campfire.
Day 12 – March towards Ngorongoro Highlands to the Ngorongoro crater, the largest volcanic caldera in the world. While the trek you may meet the lions and rhinos.
Day 13 – Victory Day – celebrate, relax, shop and prepare for travel back after the wonderous trip.
Day 14 – Back Home victorious
