University of Edinburgh student Robbie Cammack has died in a mountaineering accident in the French Alps after falling 1300ft
while he was trapped on a mountain during a storm. The medical student and his climbing partner had set out to climb the
Frendo Spur on the Aiguille du Midi last June 14, Tuesday. By Wednesday, both had called out for help, but due to the weather
conditions could not be reached by the mountain rescue team. A helicopter was only able to rescue Cammack's climbing
partner come Thursday, while Cammack's body was only recovered the following day.
Cammack's father have told the media: "Robbie loved life and brought a laugh and inspiration to so many people - he will be
deeply missed." A member of the Moray Roadrunners Club, Robbie Cammack hails from Craigellachie, Moray.
A spokesperson from the Foreign spokesman released a statement: "We can confirm the death of a British national in the
French Alps. Next of kin are aware and are receiving consular assistance."
