High Adventure Ranch

WEDNESDAY, 28 OCTOBER 2009

As the Rocky Mountain Elk mating season approaches, hunters have started to hear the distinctive bellow of the Rocky Mountain Bull. For over 26 years, High Adventure Ranch has provided hunters with the experience of a lifetime, outfitting Rocky Mountain Elk hunting trips. Because Rocky Mountain Elk or American Elk can weigh more than 800 pounds, the species has become one of the most sought after in the country.

“We are the oldest and largest hunting ranch east of Texas, with over 400 Rocky Mountain Bull Elk on our grounds,” said Charles Puff, Owner of High Adventure Ranch. “The hundreds of miles of game trail are ideal for hunters of all experience levels. At High Adventure Ranch we take every precaution necessary to ensure that our Rocky Mountain Elk are healthy. That is why we control the population, introduce different genetic lines into the herds and limit the number of hunts each season according to the population of the herd.”

With an average set of Rocky Mountain Bull Elk antlers weighing around 30 pounds, this hunter’s trophy does not come easily. Traditional guided Rocky Mountain Elk hunting in the West have less than a four percent success rate. High Adventure Ranch guarantees hunts with a “No Game, No Pay” policy. From first time hunters to seasoned hunters, only lodging, meals and licensing fees are charged if a customer does not go home with game. This is rarely an issue with guided elk hunts, where highly experienced guides use the spot and stalk method in the field.

In addition to Rocky Mountain Elk hunting, High Adventure Ranch offers Cow Elk hunting. The ranch’s experienced staff can get hunters as close to 35 yards from the animal, optimal range for bow hunting. High Adventure Ranch also provides rifles for hunters that do not want the hassle of traveling with a gun for a small fee and maintains a rifle range on sight to make any necessary adjustments prior to the hunt.

“High Adventure Ranch provides an all-inclusive experience for hunters, from helping to set up the perfect shot to handling the animal after the kill. Our goal is for hunters to go home with the trophy of a lifetime, plenty of meat for the freezer and a memorable hunting trip,” said Charles Puff.
