The Rockies -- immense and jagged, are always magnificent but there is nothing quite like seeing them when their stands of aspen take on vibrant autumn colours under a perfectly blue sky. From 5 - 17 October specialist tour operator Wanderlust Holidays will be taking a small group of travellers to experience this amazing spectacle first hand. Ride the famous Rocky Mountaineer train from Vancouver to Jasper, and enjoy walks in Jasper National Park, Lake Louise and Banff as you continue your journey by road to Calgary.
From Calgary you’ll fly to Winnipeg and on to Churchill, known as the Polar Bear Capital of the World because large numbers of polar bears congregate near town in October/November waiting for the ice to form on Hudson Bay. With two full days on the specially-designed Tundra Buggy, you’re guaranteed to see these bears at close quarters. Keep a sharp eye out for other arctic wildlife such as the elusive arctic fox.
In Churchill you'll also have the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to go dog – sledding.
