Switzerland: Enjoy Some Incredible Mountaineering

With its gorgeous Alpine landscapes dotted by small villages nestled in the valleys, its numerous lakes and its uniquely charming old European cities, Switzerland is a breathtakingly beautiful country. Well known for the cleanliness and well-orderliness so highly valued by its citizens – the country is immaculate and train operators have been known to apologize for arriving at their destination one and a half minutes late. The Swiss themselves are a blend of co-existing German, French and Italian cultures. Each region of the country has its own individual flare.

See the world’s tallest water fountain in Geneva and explore the dungeons of the 11th century Chillon castle on Lake Geneva. Head east for Zermat and visit the Grossmunster Cathedral. Enjoy some incredible mountaineering in and around the jagged Matterhorn and picnic beside high altitude emerald-hued lakes. Head down into the Lautenbrunnen Valley containing no less than 72 waterfalls and visit the picturesque village of Morcote hugging the Banks of the Ticino River in the southern end of Switzerland.

Rhein Falls: The Rhinefalls are located in the High Rhine upper course of the river Rhine, in the municipalities of Neuhausen am Rheinfall and Laufen-Uhwiesen, near the town of Schaffhausen in northern Switzerland and close to the German border. The Rhine Falls are the widest plain waterfalls of Europe, just ahead of the Dettifoss in Iceland, which is two thirds their width.
