A 19-year old mountaineer from Britain passed away after falling about 150 feet while scaling the French Alps last Thursday, August 7.
According to reports, the young climber, identified as Ian Jackson, and two of his friends were on a six-week climbing holiday at Chamonix-Mont-Blanc. Reports revealed that Jackson was abseiling when one of the climbers made a technical error with the abseil ropes. This had caused the accident. Authorities were able to reach the young climber but he died as he was airlifted to the hospital.
The mountaineer, who described climbing as both his demon and cure, had loved climbing since he was 14 years old.
