Tenzing Norgay National Adventure Awards Announced |

The Government has announced the awardees of Tenzing Norgay National Adventure Awards (TNNAA) for the year 2007. The Central Selection Committee for selection of the Awardees for the year 2007 met under the Chairmanship of Dr. M.S. Gill, Minister of Youth Affairs & Sports and unanimously selected the following persons for the TNNAA awards for the year 2007:

Accountants to Climb Cho Oyu for St. Ann's Hospice |

Two accountants from Manchester will soon be going to the Himalayas in order to take on the challenge of climbing the world's sixth highest mountain, Cho Oyu.
Kit Dickson and Justin Moody diligently trained for the said adventure which will serve as a fundraising event for St. Ann's Hospice. Dickson and Moody need both mental and physical endurance in order to climb the mountain successfully.

Young Mountaineer Dies After 150-ft. Fall |

A 19-year old mountaineer from Britain passed away after falling about 150 feet while scaling the French Alps last Thursday, August 7.

Nine Climbers might be Dead in an Avalanche at K2 |

At least nine climbers could have died in an avalanche when a portion of an ice pillar shattered, breaking one of K2's notorious areas, the Bottleneck, last Friday, August 1. According to reports, although more climbers managed to reach safety, at least nine climbers might be dead, while several others were believed to be stranded above the Bottleneck.

MCI Youth Meet to be Held this August |

The MCI Youth Meet will be held this August at the Mourne Mountains, organized by the Mountaineering Club of Ireland (MCI). The mountaineering event will provide a venue for young individuals to further enrich their skills in hillwalking, climbing, and bouldering.
The MCI Youth Meet will begin with the Outdoor Climbing event on the 7th of August. The same activity will be held on August 16.
