Mountaineers Invited on Elbrus Expedition

WEDNESDAY, 30 APRIL 2008
Submitted By: Edmund Jadol

The Ukrainian Mountaineering and Climbing Federation invites mountaineering enthusiasts to participate in the joint ascent of the highest peak of the Caucasus and Europe - Mt. Elbrus this summer, July 7 - 17.

Elbrus is located slightly to the north of the main Caucasus Range, right in the center of the Caucasus. Climbing Mt. Elbrus is like realizing a dream for many mountaineers and the breathtaking panoramic view from the top of this mountain is the memory climbers take with them for the rest of their lives.

Technically, the ascent is not that difficult in summer and it does not require deep knowledge or wide experience in using mountaineering techniques. However, the forces of nature such as strong winds and low temperature will require a lot of courage from the climbers. Acclimatization training is necessary before an ascent to Mt. Elbrus.

Registration for the said expedition is only until May 20.
