Climbing Magazine Welcomes Anker as Columnist

WEDNESDAY, 28 NOVEMBER 2007

Climbing Magazine, the journal of record for climbers worldwide, is pleased to announce that Conrad Anker, one of the world’s leading mountaineers, has joined Climbing’s roster of Basecamp columnists.

Conrad Anker is renowned for climbing the most technically-challenging terrain in the world. This quest has taken him from the mountains of Alaska and Antarctica to the big walls of Patagonia and Baffin Island and the massive peaks of the Himalaya. His Antarctic experience spans a decade, with first ascents in three regions.

“Conrad brings all the right skills to Climbing Magazine – a strong reporting background, a love for climbing, and a commitment to the climbing life – a tradition started by Michael Kennedy,” said Matt Samet, Climbing’s editor. “I couldn’t be more thrilled to have Conrad on our team.”

“I grew up on Climbing – my formative years were shaped by the words and images of this fine magazine. In turn, it is an honor to be able to share the rich history of climbing and the promise of the future with readers of multiple generations,” said Anker.

Anker’s column debuts in the February issue of Climbing.
