A new 'Travel at High Altitude' guide, produced by Medical Expeditions and Medex, was launched at the Mountain & Wilderness Medicine World Congress in Aviemore (3-6 October).
Planning a trip to the mountains? Will you be going higher than 3000m? How much do you know about high altitude, the 'thin air' and how it can affect your body?
If you are going high and want to stay happy and healthy, you need to know about:
conditions that are 'uncomfortable' and conditions that can kill you
how to acclimatise properly so you stay well
what you should do if you become unwell
Travel at High Altitude covers all of these issues in an easy-to-read style and has lots of practical advice for those venturing to altitude.
Medex has produced a booklet which is freely available to anyone. It is written in very simple English and has lots of practical advice for those venturing to altitude. Two resolutions are available as Adobe PDF's depending on the speed of your connection. The booklet may be printed or copied as required.
The guide is available in PDF format for download for free from the Medex website.
