Twenty-seven year old Tapi Mra conquered the fourth highest peak of Nepal without shoes. He climbed Island Peak in a day from the base camp where other climbers took two to three days.
Mra born in Leimiking, 150 kilometers from Daporijo in Upper Subansiri district scaled the 6, 160 meter peak. According to him, he dreams of scaling Mount Everest with the fastest recorded time since his childhood days. A social scientist from New Zealand, Tony Mark Huber, had sponsored the trip for Mra since the Arunachal government gave a ''cold shoulder'' to his talent.
Tony Mark Huber was impressed by Mra's knack for climbing thats why he decided to sponsored the trip. Mra had a degre in in mountaineering, Para-gliding and water safety and rescue.
