Preserving and Promoting Nepal

Well known mountaineers, tourism experts and journalist from different countries took part in a two day conference which aims to preserve and promote the mountains, nature and bio-diversity. Participants from Nepal, China, Pakistan, Japan, Austria, and Slovenia attended the International Himalaya Tourism Conference 2006 which was organized by the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, Nepal Mountaineering Association and Nepal Tourism Board.
According to Pradip Gyawali, Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, Nepal's mountains were not only an object of mountain tourism attraction but also the unique culture and civilization of the mountain people and that attention should be paid towards the livelihood of local people to ensure their participation in the preservation. He also encouraged everybody to promote and spread the message that Nepal is in fact a peaceful and safe destination around the world.
A veteran mountaineer from Austria suggested to all the mountaineers to ascend the mountains in Nepal. He traveled to Nepal for 63 times and had climbed mountains above 8,000 meters in height. Others speakers of the programmed shed light on the specialty of the Nepali Himalayas, eco tourism and village tourism.
