A team of five Malaysians led by a breast cancer survivor will climb Aconcagua in 2007. The expedition which is organized by the Pink Ribbon Deeds (PRIDE) aims to convey a message of hope and inspiration to breast cancer sufferers and survivors.
The team of breast cancer survivors who will scaled the 7,000 meter Mount Aconcagua will be lead by Rene'e Aziz Ahmad. The twenty-six day expedition will take place from January 14 to Feb 9 and will begin and end in Mendoza, Argentina. Climbers will take Guanacos Valley and Traverse route which they expect to face weather conditions and stormy winds.
Members who will participate in the climb are SapuraCrest Petroleum Bhd quality assurance manager Khairul Ariffin Ibrahim, Malaysian Airlines pilot Capt. Zabil Ihram Zainol, part-time lecturer Shereen Effendy Lee and award-winning filmmaker Harun Rahman. Rene'e said in an interview that the similarity between fighting breast cancer and climbing a mountain is to remain focused, positive and perseverance.
