The 2006 National Mid Year Climb and Congress which is hosted by the Guardians of Lake Venado open today in Mt. Apo. Around 400 to 500 mountaineers are expected to join the event which is open to all mountaineers all over the country.
Only 200 mountaineers are allowed per trail since the hosts of this year's national mid-year climb are strictly implementing the low impact mountaineering code. Lumabis Trail and Bungolanon Toril Trail in Kidapa-wan are among the trails which will be used for this event.
Sandawa Apo Mountaineering, Ecology Club, the Tribunang Mindanaw Mountaineering Club and the Marco Polo Mountaineering Club are just few of the many clubs joining the event. According to bond.lanesystems.com a registration fee of 850 is set for the MFPI (Mountaineering Federation of the Philippines Inc.,) members and 1,000 for non-members.
