Beginner Mountains

Beginner Mountains There are numerous mountains well-known among climbing enthusiasts, most of them famous because of the difficulty in climb and the amount of experience and expertise required in order to conquer them. A mountain climbing professional or a hobbyist all expect to advance and conquer mountains more difficult than their previous climbs, but as beginners, someone has to start somewhere. With the popularity of Everest and K2 both definitely not recommended for start-ups, one may need more experience before they can finally conquer the highest and most difficult of them all. There are several mountains only several hundred meters high, which are still popular and known to cater to beginner climbers. Here are a few peaks an amateur can start with.

In the United States alone, there are numerous mountains to be conquered by beginners. Among them is Chimney Tops in Great Smoky Mountains, Georgia features Chimney Top Trail, a beginner route located South of the United States. With an elevation of 4,800 feet, the short climb is a popular destination for novices. Another popular destination is Mount Whitney in California, the highest summit in the country towering in with a height of 14,505 feet. The peak, part of the Sierra Nevada Range and located in Sequoia National Park, offers a more technical climb through the East Face route at the steep easternside of the mountain.

Outside the United States, many mountains appropriate for beginners may be found in the United Kingdom. Schiehallion, located in Perth and Kinross, Scotland, is considered the most popular mountain of the country, primarily due to its accessibility and the breathtaking views it can offer. Known as The Fairy Hill of the Mountains, the frequently visited peak has an elevation of 3,554 feet. Cairngorm Mountain found in the heart of Scotland’s Cairngorm National Park is also a good start-up mountain, with an elevation of 4,084 feet has climbing routes at Coire an t-Sneachda and Coire an Lochain, easily accessible from the mountain’s ski center.

After trying out beginner peaks and trails, a novice can now move on up with more technical climbs to places such as Mt. Aconcagua in Argentina and Great Britain’s highest which is Mount Snowdon in Wales. Mount Snowdon has been a popular spot for those wanting to reach the level of expedition peaks, with Sir Edmund Hillary himself training on this very mountain in his quest to conquer Mount Everest. Who knows, trying out this peak may give way to a dream of great expectations.
