if you saw the movie Easy Rider, Peter Fonda has this clear water hose-type tube where he placed the batches of rolled up money, sealed the end with a cork and placed it in the gas tank of his chopper. i think with that crap tube, you wrap up the crap first before you stick it into the tube??? i dunno

i used this once, wasn't comfortable. kooky's analogy is correct. you don't stick the pipe up your bum, what i did was, i went on a laid out cling wrap and stuffed the tightly-sealed thing into the pipe. it does sound gross. and you lug it around the entire time you're up there. ugh.

this is popular among climbers, especially winter climbers. no matter how deep you dig, crap will still be in the snow six months later

what about the extra weight, man. if youre going on a multiday climb, youll need a big pipe that alone is heavy enough, what more if you put a week or even a month's crap in it?

i was browsing thru the http://www.abc-of-hiking.com forums and there's one thread there where women are talking about dumping their used girl products. they mentioned this so-called cups where they can store them. so maybe these tubes thing really do exist...i mean, if they can make something for girls, right?

Actually, you can reduce your food intake, or rather peg it to your caloric output, eating as much as you need to perform, and thus go for a couple of days without needing to use one of these things. For those who don't succeed, there are other options, like bags made specifically for that purpose. I don't have any experience with either, tho, so can't provide any more detail.

uh, oben, the cups are like tampons, instead of tampons, you use the menstrual cups for your period, works like a diaphragm unless you're talking about this http://www.abc-of-hiking.com/forum/gear-equipment/portable-hygiene.asp

When I was up on Mt. Baker we used Wag Bags. You just crap in a large bag add the solidifying/antiseptic powder close it and tie in a knot. Repeat with the other bag, hand it to your guide to haul down the mountain. All in all it was an OK system. Seems better than the tube I think.

Used the blue bag system on Rainer and you carried your own out. They has special drop areas. Never heard of the tubes. I was luck enough to no have to use a blue bag, Hit the solar toilet at Schurman.
