I am looking to invest in an expedition pack that can do it all. I would like to get into some serious mountaineering - Elbrus, Denali, Eiger, etc and I keep getting mixed reviews on the right pack. Gear lists say to get at least 5000-6000 cubic inch packs (80-100 liter) for most expeditions though I had an expert tell me not to get above 70 liter. So which is it? Would the Osprey Aether 70 do it all? Or should I go with something larger? I want to make sure that the pack is big enough to get me through anything but not ridiculously big. Thanks guys and cheers!

Hey Gooser. I think the Osprey Aether 70 is a good choice. It's not ridiculously big but you can pretty much fit your tent, stove, fuel, platypus bottles etc... etc... on it. It's designed in such a way that it distributes the weight load evenly. It should also be able to withstand some tough treatment.
Happy trails
