Hi , we retired in NY a few years ago. Bought a RV and traveled for a while(still do). we bought in Canmore AB CAN, but can only stay 6 months. we need a US home. cheap if we keep Canmore, or more $$$ if we let Canada house go.  Levinworth WA and Bend OR look close to what we are looking for.. Easy rock and ice climbing along with scrambles, backpacking and mtneering need to be real close. any idears????  Upsate NY has to many bugs in spring. As does most of New England. Some places in CO were close(durango, but something seemed funny their).. tks Greg

Durango is a funny town isn't it? :) Beautiful though.  There's a beautiful little town in Colorado right at the continental divide. It's called Buena Vista. It's where the "collegiate peaks" are and it's absolutely gorgeous. The collegiate peaks consist of three 14ers. Respectively named Mt. Princeton, Mt. Harvard and Mt. Yale.  There is a gorgeous mountain range that's absolutely breathtaking at the continental divide. The locals are VERY nice. It's a small town with the best prime rib I've tasted anywhere in my life and it's CHEAP! :) There is also a place called Cottonwood hotsprings that is a wonderfully nestled little place that has all natural crystal clear water flowing and it is just one of my favorite places on earth. My fiancee and I were thinking of moving there, but there aren't any jobs due to the small town nature and we're in our late twenties. :)  So, we moved from Rochester, NY to Colorado Springs, CO and would go visit Buena Vista at least 3 times a year. Horseback riding and ranches and fun things to do around there as well. Now we're back in NY too. :) (Sucks you in, doesn't it?) Anyway, that's my recommendation. Best of luck to you.

I live in a small town on the western slope of Colorado called Silt and about three hours away is our little Switzerland. We call it Ouray and it is one of the most beautiful places in Colorado. Check it out.
