i was in the store yesterday and as always I see books Id die for but don't buy. i saw irvine welsh's if you liked school, you'll love work. it's a collection of short stories. i read the first titled rattlesnakes. it was hilarious. 3 friends, 2 guys and a girl went to someplace before vegas i think, their car broke down and were forced to camp out in the desert. one guy eugene was lying on the tent when something stung his thingy he thought it the other guy scott who owns the car stabbed him. turns out, a rattlesnake bit his thing. madeline, the girl friend didn't want to suck out the bad blood 'you might have gonorrhea for all i know' so scott was forced to do the job against eugenes will. you guys should get a copy. so worth it.
yeah the guy who got bit was the one driving the car that broke down because he was on something and got paranoid and broke the mechanics under the car
MountainChef posted the following on Friday 25th January 2008 spud is still my favorite among his interesting characters. i hope danny boyle makes a movie of the sequel books to trainspotting
The novel Porno (sort of a followup to Trainspotting) was supposed
to be made into a film directed by Boyle. What I read at the time was
Ewan McGregor and Danny Boyle were not speaking. This was all over
McGregor being mad at not getting the lead role in The Beach.
Apparently the rest of the people from Trainspotting were ready to go
but McGregor refused to be a part and the project is on hiatus now.
I have yet to read "If you liked school..." but am planning on it.
I did just finish The Bedroom Secrets of the Master Chefs. Great novel
- makes me hope that I never end up in a similar position.
