Hey yall,
I am participating in an environmental activity in China with the NGO I work for, and the activity takes place on a mountain at around 4080 m. There is a summit attempt which I have been invited on, and im really want to go. It the summit is another 1400 meters and the description of the mountain is below.
"XueBaoDing stands at 5588m, and is considered to be a basic technical mountain. Below 5000m, XueBaoDing is characterized by loose granite rocks. The gradient up to this point is about 30- 35 degree. The route to summit follows along the ridgeline at 5100m, & is guarded by a dangerous 10-metre rock face, commonly known as LuoTuoBei, or Camel’s back. After clearing this undulating rock wall, the route to the summit is a stretch of 30-degree snow/ice slope.
As this is a technical mountain, you should have experience in basic snow/ice and rock-climbing skills. You should be relatively familiar with equipment such as Harness, Karabiners, ATC/Figure-of-8 and ascenders. It is also highly recommended that you have prior experience on a snow mountain."

My previous experience has been climbing a few of the 3300 peaks in oregon. I have experience using an ice axe and can self arrest fine but none with crampons. Im in great shape, so physical endurance shouldnt be an issue even at high altitude. I might have a day or two to practice technique before the ascent. Thoughts? I will be with experience climbers.

Back your climb with some knowledge about the mountain and read some reviews made by mountaineers who had some experience about the mountain. By acquiring the necessary items and equipment you will gain confidence on the undertaking. It is not that hard. Cheers! gas fireplace, wood stove
