Alpine Exploratory Guiding
Alpine Exploratory can provide the services of an International Mountain Leader (IML) to help you to achieve your walking and trekking ambitions. Our leaders are picked for their passion and for their natural confidence in the mountains. They are first and foremost people who love mountain walking and trekking and who fill their spare time with their own walking trips with friends. We believe that leaders give best value to their clients when they're doing something that they really love.
Guiding qualifications When hiring a guide it's crucial to find out what the guide is qualified to do. In many European countries including France and Switzerland there are two recognised qualifications for mountaineering: the International Mountain Guide (a Guide) and the International Mountain Leader (an IML or Accompagnateur). The Guide can take clients on any terrain to do any activity, from walking to rock climbing, ice climbing and skiing. The IML can take clients on walking terrain on mountains of any height, but not on glaciers.
