Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park, Scotland
Here the gentle Lowlands end abruptly at the Highland Boundary Fault, a massive geological formation that runs through the National Park.
It is also the meeting place of different cultures. In ancient times it straddled the kingdoms of three Celtic peoples - Scots, Picts and Britons - and until recently was the edge of the Gaelic speaking world.
The diverse habitats are home to a wealth of wildlife and provide a stunning backdrop to a range of outdoor activities.
Scotland's first National Park celebrates the diversity of Scottish landscapes and culture and is easily accessible from both Glasgow and Edinburgh.
