Matterhorn
Matterhorn is an isolated rock pyramid with two peaks which are joined by a knife edge. With a height of 4478 meters and set of routes of varying difficulties, Matterhorn poses a significant challenge to experienced climbers.
Though this is one of the most frequently climbed mountains in the world, Matterhorn should not be tried by beginners. Climbing this mountain requires experience and technical expertise.
Matterhorn has several routes in varying levels of difficulty. The easiest route is Hörnli Ridge. With a vertical gain of 4000 feet on technical ground, climbers need a strong sense of determination and endurance in order to successfully climb Matterhorn. Other routes include Lion Ridge, Zmutt Ridge, and Italian Ridges.
How to Get There
The town of Zermatt, Switzerland is situated beneath the north face of Matterhorn. You can reach it by car or bus from Visp / Brig. Another way is by train from Täsch.
