Greenland Mountains
East Greenland has some of the world's most challenging climbs. The peaks are not high, but near-vertical walls of more then 1000m (3000ft) are abundant - countless we should say. Most of them have no names and have never been climbed. The Arctic climate and the icecap and glaciers make the climb equally challenging to peaks two or three times higher. They also reward you with breathtaking landscapes that will be an unforgettable experience. Greenland is one of the real frontiers left on this planet - you even have a chance of passing by a nunatak that is not yet marked on the map. Mount Forel, the second highest mountain in Greenland , rises 3,400 metres above sea level. The Icecap, at the north-western wall of Mount Forel, flows around the massif and further into East Greenland 's infinite glaciers and fjords. Mount Forel has been climbed less than eleven times so far.

| General |
Greenland, the world's largest island, is perhaps one of the least explored areas in the world. It is predominantly an ice cap with a rugged mountain chain which runs north to south up the East Coast. Greenland boasts many of the greatest regions of unclimbed mountain ranges anywhere in the world. Hundreds of unclimbed peaks and over a thousand individual virgin summits still await the more resourceful mountaineer who possesses a quest for adventure and exploration. |
