Mountain Technology was founded in 1981 by Hugh McNicholl. His enthusiasm for mountaineering combined with his experience in the aero-engineering industry at Rolls Royce led to the first ice axe designs.
Situated between Glencoe and Ben Nevis at the centre of Scottish winter mountaineering, the company maintains a programme of product testing and evaluation in the most extreme conditions.
Mountain Technology produce a range of axes which are designed and manufactured to the highest standards. The best materials and processes available are used to achieve technical excellence.
Attention to detail in the design and manufacture resulted in five of the company's axes being awarded a coveted British Design Award
