History
- In 1862: Kaspar Tanner lay the first building blocks of our enterprise with the foundation of the craftmans ropery in Dintikon, near Lenzburg. 16 years later Kaspar Tanner moved his business to larger premises in the little city of Lenzburg. During his residency in Lenzburg the company was known as Seilerwarenfabrik AG Lenzburg. In 1968 the name changed to Arova Lenzburg AG and finally in 1984 to Arova-Mammut AG.
- 1972: Acquisition of a second production factory, the Walter Schwarzenbach AG in Necker, St Gallen, which was expanded to become a branch with modern yarn production and harness weavery
- 1982: Entry into the Swiss business group Zürcher Zieggeleien (ZZ).
- 1988: The establishment of the MAMMUT Sportartikel GmbH in Kempten, Germany as sales outlet of our equipment for mountain sports and the outdoors in the EC.
- 1989: Acquisition of FÜRST AG, Wädenswil, which was integrated into AROVA-MAMMUT in 1989.
- 1990: Beginning of the new building in Seon (AG), which in 1992 became the new central company headquarters and production outlet. Further company-overtakings, so the Toko AG in Altstätten (SG) also counts as part of the Arova-Mammut-Toko-Group.
The new company headquarters comprises of a building volume of 106,000m3 and a floor area of 21,000m2. The complex is made up of a modern office building, a fully automated high-shelve store, a delivery building and two part buildings for the whole production. Around 200 employees process and manufacture, market and sell 900 tonnes of textile raw materials here per year.
- Mammut Today: Today 60% of the sales are obtained from the home market and 40% from the export market. The biggest growth potential lies in export for the Mammut AG products: Besides the alp countries, north America and Japan count as two of the main buyers of the mountain sport range.
