A Timeline 1998 to Present
To remain the market leader, Katadyn took significant measures to build a stronger, better organisation:
In 1998, Katadyn was purchased by its employees. With renewed focus and enthusiasm, the new team began to increase Katadyn’s market position worldwide.
In early 2001, Katadyn acquired Exstream, the best-selling brand of water bottle purifiers. This provided Katadyn with EPA registered purifiers and a strong position in the rapidly growing bottle category.
In June 2001, Katadyn acquired all products, distribution, brands and manufacturing rights of the Peter Gelzhäuser GmbH, Jena. The purchased product lines are well established brands in the camping and caravan market with products for water disinfection and vehicle maintenance.
In July 2001, Katadyn purchased PUR Outdoor and Marine products. This bold movement strengthened Katadyn’s market position worldwide. As the best selling U.S. brand, PUR products have strong consumer support and proven retail sell-through.
Throughout 2001, Katadyn opened new subsidiaries in North America, France, Germany and Singapore.
Katadyn enters 2003 as the most complete supplier of outdoor water systems.
