Green Trails Maps were first published in 1973 by original owner and cartographer, Walter Locke. Walt recognized that an up-to-date topographic map emphasizing outdoor recreation would be essential for every outdoor enthusiast to enjoy, plan and remember their adventure. Many trail users prefer Green Trails Maps because of the detailed trail information. A standard Green Trails Map covers the same area as four USGS 7.5' quads and provides clear, compact and current information in a convenient size and scale.

The maps are 12" x 18". They include 15 minutes of coverage, at 1:69500. "S" or special series maps noted by the "s" in the map number vary in coverage and scale to optimize area coverage for the map user.
